About Me

Hello, I’m Sophie.

My Approach

As a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I work in a person-centred way, which means I believe you’re the expert on your own life.

My role isn’t to analyse or fix you; it’s to offer the kind of relationship where you feel safe, respected, and understood. Over time, this kind of connection can help you feel clearer, more grounded, and more in control of the choices that matter to you.

Alongside person-centred therapy, I can bring in other approaches if they feel helpful, from CBT techniques for managing anxiety to psychodynamic thinking around past experiences, or creative methods like art therapy. The process is always led by you.

A Personal Journey to Counselling

I decided to become a counsellor after a difficult experience in my own life. I discovered the incredible power of feeling truly held, heard, and understood by someone who was there to support me without judgment. This experience ignited a passion in me to provide that same safe space for others.

Having worked in education for many years, and later training to be a counsellor, I've had the privilege of working with children, young people, and adults facing a wide range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, living with neurodiversity, trauma, difficult childhoods, and painful relationships.

More recently I have been working with the Probation Service, supporting people to rebuild their lives after leaving prison. You don’t need to have it all figured out—we can work it out together.
