FAQs

What happens in the first session?

Our first session is a chance for us to meet and see how it feels to work together. I’ll explain a bit about how I work, answer any questions you might have, and give you space to talk about what’s brought you here. There’s no pressure to share everything at once.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different — some people come for a few weeks, others for longer-term work. We’ll review together as we go along.

Do I have to talk about everything straight away?

Not at all. We go at your pace. You share what feels comfortable, when it feels right.

Do you give me advice or tell me what to do?

No — my role isn’t to give instructions, but to help you explore your thoughts and feelings so you can make your own choices.

What is I’m nervous starting therapy?

That’s completely normal. Many people feel unsure at first. We’ll take it step by step, and you’re welcome to ask any questions.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes. I work within the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework, which means I take your privacy and wellbeing very seriously. Everything you share is confidential, with a few legal and safety exceptions, which I’ll explain clearly before we start.

What kind of issues do you work with?

I support clients with a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, childhood experiences, and the challenges of living with neurodiversity. I also have particular experience working with men around mental health, relationship breakdowns, and big life transitions — including adjusting after time in prison. That said, my practice is open to people of all backgrounds, and the focus is always on what you need from therapy.

Where are sessions held?

I offer face-to-face sessions in South Woodford and Barkingside, as well as online and telephone sessions if that’s easier for you.
